After Republican presidential hopeful Mitt Romney left
the American Legion Convention Aug. 29 to a standing ovation, Bronx, NY Legionnaire Sean Mannion told the Indianapolis
Star: “I thought he was fantastic.”
Romney spoke on the need for a strong defense and the well-being of veterans.
"Overwhelmingly the No. 1 concern I hear from young
vets can be summed up in one word: jobs... As president, I will get
America back to work again.
“To make it easier for veterans to find employment in
skilled trades, I will work with the states to create a common credentialing
and licensing standard, and encourage organizations to recognize and grant
credit for military training.”
Mannion commented on that to The Star: “The employment of the veterans is a top
priority. The guys coming back from the war theater right now, that’s a must.”
